Here is an inspiring article for all you SWC students to think about over the summer. I don't want you to drop out and become a pilot! I want to think about your goals and think BIG.

Recognize this little twirp? (I mean twitter...) I have been playing around with Twitter for awhile and have recently discovered that a small few of my students are starting to use it increasingly as an alternative to messaging. It has not really caught on yet as only 5 or 6 of my students out of 54 have accounts, however there is interest.
I have been encouraged to push ahead with more action research into classroom applications for Twitter following presentations by my students based on visits to schools in and around Sharjah and Ajman (UAE) (Tweeted on May 26th). Numerous groups mentioned 'clickers', those infamous little gadgets that students lose and teachers dread because they are so annoying to set up. I think the idea is fine, but the clickers themselves are not. I think Twtter is a nice, web-based solution that does not require additional investment in soon-to-be out-dated hardware. The only problem now? This is the last week of classes.... A good idea for September.

The use of a comprehensive platform bridges the gap between inside and out side the classroom by providing students a single access point for their studies. Ideally, one program or year group should use the same platform to enable both teachers and students to see the "big picture" of their studies. From a faculty and departmental aspect, it provides a basis for a portfolio approach to learning. This table displays some of the main comparisons and contrasts between BBV and SharePoint. There are other features not mentioned here generally because they are not commonly used. |

In keeping with the theme of the conference, Bridging the Gap, between technology use inside the classroom and outside, this project is an example of how educational technologists can support an e-learning environment. The Year 2 students in the Bachelor of Educational Technology Program at Sharjah Women's College have undertaken a project in which they create a technical plan for an e-learning environment either in a school, other educational institution including museums, or training departments within a company. The plan guides them to design an e-management system shell in which they will embed e-learning resources and assessments for those resources.
